March/April 2024 Newsletter (Ethan)
Greetings from Ethan Johnston, a man who will relentlessly pursue the heart of Christ, to anyone who may receive this letter, may you tangibly know the love, joy and peace Christ has to offer.
I’ll be honest in saying that I haven’t been the best with writing newsletters and keeping you all updated recently. However, let me catch you up with everything that has been going on. My team “Israel'' has been working with an organization called “One Way” for the past month and a half. Day to day we visit homes in the community in the mornings, we share about Jesus and pray for the families we get to meet. In the afternoons we coach soccer and tutor kids as a way to share not only the love of Christ but also a devotional. In March I also had a few unique opportunities, one of which was to teach my squad of about forty people on baptism in the Holy Spirit. The other was to attend a worship album recording and then having the honor to baptize another person on the squad.
At the beginning of March I met a guy who is part of another team that the world race sent out and his team was in Guatemala for some of the time we are here for. “Has the LORD been giving you any dreams recently?” I asked him. “Woah, that’s crazy you ask that actually because I’ve been having nightmares for months”, he replied. He went on to explain further as to what the nightmares were that he was having. “I’m not sure why you’ve been having those nightmares man but I know that isn’t the abundant life Christ has for us. I’ve been learning about schemes the enemy uses and how he tries to attack a lot this year” I said. “Sometimes the enemy uses an area of unrepentance to try to get in. So maybe there’s an area you need to repent” I went on. “I don’t know man, I’ve repented for a lot, everything I can think of. The LORD would really need to reveal it to me” he responded. About two weeks later I saw him at the album recording. “Dude! I was asking the LORD to reveal any area I still needed to repent for and he did! I was in a teaching the other day and was completely convicted and chose to repent. I haven’t had any nightmares since” he said. PRAISE THE LORD FOR HIS FAITHFULNESS.
When I spoke to the squad on the baptism in the Holy Spirit I spoke with the eager expectation that the LORD would move so beautifully. Let me tell you a secret, He did! Almost everyone received the baptism in the Holy Spirit that day and many people now speak in tongues. PRAISE THE LORD!!!
Our time in Guatemala has been so sweet and I'm confident the rest of our time here will be too! I’m grateful for the ministry the LORD has for us here and I’m eager to see what he will continue to do.
